Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Dr Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has discussed with Atef Tarawneh, Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, ways to strengthen parliamentary relations between the two countries.
They stressed the significance of exchanging visits, parliamentary experiences and pre-coordination between the two sides in different parliamentary sessions over a number of issues. These issues include the Palestinian issue and the Syrian refugee crisis and its impact on the host countries, as well as counter-terrorism, violence, extremism, and the focus on intellectual awareness and promotion of peace in the Muslim communities, especially the Arab ones in the light of conflicts in the region.
The two sides emphasised the importance of strengthening joint parliamentary co-operation through the UAE- Jordan Parliamentary Committee to promote peace and international security in view of the regional and international crises.
Both sides rejected the interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states, and inciting sectarian, ethnic and religious strife. They reiterated the importance of respecting neighbourliness among countries of the region, given common history, culture and civilisation.
They praised the position of the UAE and Jordan towards Arab causes, notably the participation in the Arab Coalition and the Muslim Alliance, and standing firmly in the fight against terrorism, and renouncing violence and extremism.
Dr Al Qubaisi and Tarawneh underlined that the failure to settle Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, will exacerbate the situation in the region awash in the scourge of war, extremism and terrorism.
They stressed the importance of enhancing co-operation with regard to numerous international issues, particularly the Palestinian cause and the fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as spreading the culture of peace and dialogue.
Tarawneh stressed the strength of existing ties between the two countries thanks to the unstinted support by leaders of the two countries. He referred to the support of the UAE to Jordan in all fields as per the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and follow-up by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The FNC speaker extended an invitation to her Jordanian counterpart to visit the UAE to be acquainted with the UAE’s parliamentary experience, and Tarwaneh accepted the invitation.
