Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Interior said Tuesday that no national ID numbers had been revoked upon an order by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour to halt the withdrawal of the Jordanian citizenship from the holders of the yellow-ID cards, said Ali Madi, head of the ministry's inspection department.
Madi told the Lower House's Palestine Committee that the revoking of the ID numbers had been on hold since 2013.
"The issue of revoking national numbers is not a matter up to the temperament of the inspection department or the interior ministry", he told the panel, explaining that any one who had his/her number revoked by fault could submit an appeal with a ministerial committee that studies it and rectifies their status.
Yahya Saud, head of the Palestine parliamentary committee, said he was worried that the issue of ID withdrawals "had again come to the fore", noting that the panel had received notes from citizens, particularly those in the Gulf Arab states, expressing their alarm. He warned that the withdrawal of cards could adversely affect investment in the Kingdom.
