Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Monday, attended, at the Martyr's Memorial in the Southern Shuna district in the Jordan Valley, an Armed Forces celebration to mark the 48th anniversary of Al Karama Battle.
This years' anniversary is a special one, as it coincides with the Greater Arab Revolt’s Centennial.
Upon his arrival, King Abdullah reviewed a guard of honor and laid a wreath at the battle martyrs' monument.
The King was also received by a number of Royal family members, acting Senate president, acting Lower House speaker, president of the Judicial Council, Royal Court Chief, Constitutional Court president, the King's Advisor for National Security Affairs and the Director of general intelligence department, Directors of security departments, former Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, senior military officials and Economic and Social Association of Retired Servicemen and Veterans General Manager.
Mufti of the Jordan Armed Forces voiced pride of Al Karama Battle's martyrs, praying for Almighty God to rest their souls.
His Majesty recited verses from the Holy Quran and reviewed the names of the martyrs inscribed on the memorial as well as formations and units that fought in the 1968 battle.
