FM, Japanese envoy discuss region

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, discussed with the Special Representative of the Government of Japan for the Middle East and Europe, Masaharu Kohno, the latest regional developments and challenges facing efforts to advance in the peace process.

The two officials stressed keenness to continue cooperation and consultation, with respect to regional issues and issues of common concern.

They also discussed the latest developments regarding the Palestinian issue and efforts to re-launch Palestinian-Israeli negotiations.

Judeh reiterated Jordan's supportive stance to the two-state solution, under which an independent and sovereign Palestinian state would be established on the fourth of June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international terms of reference, resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative.

The minister and the Japanese official talked about the Syrian crisis, calling for a political solution that ensures the safety and security of the neighboring country.

The Japanese envoy expressed his country's appreciation and support for Jordan's pivotal role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, to deal with issues of the region and its efforts to achieve security, stability and peace.
