Jordan looks forward to further developing relations with Cyprus

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King of Jordan Abdullah II has said he looks forward to the two countries further developing their economic and trade relations and has referred in particular to the significance of a trilateral cooperation between Cyprus, Greece and Jordan.

He was addressing a ceremony, at the Raghadan palace, recently, during which the Cypriot Ambassador to Amman Nafsika Krousti presented her credentials, an official press release says.

The Jordanian King spoke of the excellent ties between Cyprus and Jordan expressing his full satisfaction for the continuous and stable enhancement of their relations, which is appreciated by his country.

Referring to the excellent political relations between the two countries he expressed the hope that economic and trade relations will develop much in the same way.

At the same time he welcomed the regional cooperation promoted by the trilateral cooperation agreements between Cyprus, Greece and Egypt and Cyprus, Greece and Israel, the model of which is the basis of ongoing consultations for a trilateral cooperation with Jordan, the press release adds.

He stressed in particular the huge potential such a regional cooperation would have to the benefit of all countries in the region and in particular towards the goal of building peace and stability in the region.

On her part Krousti also referred to the excellent and warm ties between the two countries and stressed her readiness to contribute in the effort to further enhance them.

She also conveyed the Republic of Cyprus` thanks for the principled position Jordan has on the Cyprus problem, in the context of international and regional organisations, including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
