Jordan mulls importing natural gas from Algeria

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources discussed with their Algerian officials from Sonatrach company ways of cooperation in energy and prospects for importing liquefied natural gas from the North African Arab nation.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said the talks with the Algerian side comes as part of the Kingdom's efforts to diversify natural gas supply whose cost is much cheaper compared with other oil derivatives.

Jordan's 2014 energy bill reached about JD5 billion or 20 percent of Gross Domestic Product, the statement added.
