Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Interior Salamah Hammad, on Monday, discussed with the representative of the High Commissioner of the United Nations Refugees Agency (UNHCR) in Jordan, Andrew Harper, the latest developments, related to dealing with the Syrian refugee crisis and ways to mitigate its effects on the Kingdom, especially in the vital service and security sectors.
Hammad praised the UNHCR role in helping Jordan dealing with the Syrian crisis' repercussions.
He said the Syrian crisis exhausted natural, economic, health and educational resources as well as infrastructure and sources of water and energy, as a result of the increasing pressure on the already limited resource in the Kingdom, calling for increasing the allocated amount of aid to Jordan by countries of the world and international stakeholders.
Harper praised Jordan's position in hosting Syrian refugees, despite economic difficulties and challenges it faces, and expressed his appreciation to Jordan's leadership, government and people for their role in serving Syrian refugees and provide them with all services they need.
The two sides agreed to continue efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and coordination in areas of common interest.
