Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Qatar imported 57,300 tonnes of fruits and vegetables from Jordan during the last seven months of 2015, a senior official says.
Salah Al-Tarawneh, the assistant secretary general of the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture for marketing and information says: “Qatar imported 6,000 tonnes of tomatoes, 2,800 tonnes of watermelon, while the rest of imports were distributed among peppers, zucchini and lettuce.”
Tarawneh points out that Jordanian exports of vegetables and fruits to Arab Gulf states reached nearly 377,000 tonnes during the past seven months, reports Al-Sharq.
On Sunday, the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture said that Jordan’s exports of fruits and vegetables continued to rise gradually to reach 500,000 tonnes since the beginning of this year until the end of July.
Agriculture minister Akef Zu’bi says: “Jordan’s exports of vegetables and fruits to Arab and foreign markets continued to rise gradually during the month of July, exporting a total of 100,000 tonnes, an increase of 25 per cent from the same month of 2014.
