Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Deposits of Jordanians in Swiss banks were around JD2.13 billion (around $3 billion) last year, according to a recent report released by the Swiss National Bank (SNB).
The report showed that savings of Jordanians in Switzerland grew by around 12 per cent over 2013, when deposits stood at JD1.9 billion.
Deposits of Jordanians in Swiss banks have been on the rise for the past three years as in 2012 the value of savings stood at JD1.8 billion.
The report, "Banks in Switzerland 2014", said that deposits of Jordanian banks in financial institutions in the European country were around JD1.2 billion (around $1.7 billion), while savings of individuals reached JD919 million (nearly $1.3 billion).
The SNB's report said the value of fortunes saved by Arabs in Swiss banks was over $46 billion (43.120 billion Swiss francs).
The value of deposits by Jordanians in Swiss banks was sixth among Arabs as Emiratis topped the list with savings of over $14.5 billion, followed by Saudis ($10 billion), Lebanese ($6.1 billion), Kuwaitis ($4.1 billion) and Egyptians ($3.01 billion), according to the official annual report.
Deposits at Jordanian banks registered by the end of the first quarter of this year reached JD26 billion, according to the Central Bank of Jordan.
