King, French FM discuss Mideast peace, terrorism

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday met French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, who is visiting as part of a tour in the region, for talks on current regional developments, including efforts to kickstart Palestinian-Israeli peace talks.
During the meeting at al Husseiniyeh Palace, attended by HRH Prince Faisal Ibn al Hussein, King Abdullah noted the deep Jordanian-French friendship, and said the Kingdom is interested in further cementing relations in various fields and to "maintain joint coordination towards achieving the two countries' interests." The talks tackled efforts under way to counter terrorism and the need to adopt a holistic approach towards this end through partnership and continued coordination among all concerned parties.
On efforts to bring about peace in the region, King Abdullah reiterated the need for all influential parties, including France which has a pivotal role, to intensify efforts to conditions conducive to reviving the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.
During the meeting, attended by the Royal Court Chief, the foreign minister and the delegation accompanying Fabius, the French minister said Paris is keen on cementing relations with the Kingdom and constantly coordinating with it on various issues, given Jordan's moderate stance and vision.
