Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan is an invaluable ally with whom we coordinate closely on a range of issues throughout the region. Jordan remains a pillar of regional security and continues to make critical contributions to the global coalition to degrade and ultimately defeat ISIL.

For decades the United States has also strongly supported Jordan’s efforts to enhance its security, providing over $300 million in security assistance to Jordan annually, making it one of our largest security assistance programs. We continue to make every effort to expedite security assistance to Jordan. The State Department is acting promptly on Jordanian requests for military capabilities, in partnership with the Department of Defense.

The United States is committed to stringent standards for the sale, transfer, and subsequent use of U.S.-origin Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). All potential exports of Unmanned Aerial Systems are considered under the recently released UAS export policy, and under the Conventional Arms Transfer Policy, on a case by case basis.

We will certainly review any requests from allies in light of this policy. However, until such decisions are formally notified to Congress, we are unable to comment on them.
