Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The European United Union named two new special representatives to the Middle East and the Central Asia.
A report by the EU council said that the Italian diplomat, Fernando Gentilini, was appointed as the new special representative for the Middle East who will work towards the resumption of meaningful negotiations with the aim of achieving a comprehensive peace agreement based on a two-state solution, adding that he will also work in close contacts with all major players.
Meanwhile, senior official in the Slovak Foreign Ministry,Peter Burian, was named as EU special representative for Central Asia for an initial period of one year.
"The appointment of Burian will boost the EU's continued cooperation with Central Asia, ensuring continued EU high-level engagement in the region, " the report added.
