Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan's permanent representative to the United Nations, Dina Kawar, stressed the need to a constructive environment to achieve political stability and ensure prosperity and democratic governance in Haiti.
During a session of the Security Council held on Wednesday to discuss the mandate of the UN Mission in Haiti, Kawar said efforts to strengthen institutions and entrench the rule of law remain an essential element of stability in Haiti.
She stressed the importance of holding presidential, legislative and local elections in Haiti, slated for this year, and called on political parties to deepen dialogue and cooperation towards achieving this goal, emphasizing the need to ensure a transparent and comprehensive polls.
She called on the International community to provide adequate funding to enhance the capacity of Haiti's police, particularly in remote areas.
