Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ) on Monday diverted its RJ 264 Chicago-Amman flight, landing at the Montreal airport in Canada, four hours after takeoff, to ensure that a sick Jordanian passenger on board receives urgent medical attention.
According to an RJ press statement, the passenger, aged 70, felt very sick during the flight, prompting the plane's captain to request landing at the nearest airport to ensure she received the necessary treatment as soon as possible.
As the plane landed, an ambulance kept on standby, ferried the passenger, along with RJ personnel at the Montreal station, to a hospital near the airport, while the Boeing 787 carrying 224 passengers resumed its journey to Amman after a two-hour halt at the Montreal airport, the statement said.
The statement stressed that RJ puts the health and safety of its passengers at the top of its priorities and spares no expense, pointing to the large cost of the emergency landing in terms of additional consumption of fuel, airport charges, over flight and other expenses.
