Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Boxing champion Amir Khan will visit Pakistan next week to support towards the victims of by the Peshawar massacre last week that killed 149, The Independent said on Monday.

In a bid to “make a difference” in the country, the 28-year-old Khan, whose parents hail from Pakistan, has already donated his shorts from a recent fight, woven with 24-carat gold thread, to help rebuild the army school.

A personal visit will “send a statement” across the region, Khan said.

“I will be going to Pakistan between Christmas and New Year,” he said, adding that he believes that his life will be in danger from his trip.

“They [the Taliban] are killing their own people… why are these people doing that? Have they got no brains?’ Setting the teachers on fire in front of the kids?”

In the response to the massacre by Taliban fighters on the northwestern school last week, Pakistan plans to execute around 500 militants after the government lifted a moratorium on the death penalty in terror cases following the attack.

Six militants have been hanged since Friday amid rising public anger over the slaughter.

After the deadliest terror attack in Pakistani history, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ended the six-year moratorium on the death penalty, reinstating it for terrorism-related cases.
