King continues meetings with US Congress leaderships

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday met with top US Congressmen for talks on ways to enhance ties between the two countries and the latest developments in the Middle East.

The royal talks focused on guaranteeing US loans to Jordan and ways to increase the US support and assistance to the Kingdom, mainly in the energy and water sectors.

King Abdullah met with U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Chairs and members of the Congress and Senate Appropriations Sub-Committee on State and Foreign Operations and the Chairperson of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Robert Menendez.

Talks also touched on the latest developments in the Middle East, mainly the regional and international efforts to fight terrorism and extremism and ways to resume talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis according to the two-state solutions. The meetings also dealt with the need to support Egypt to help it address its challenges, the latest developments in Syria and Iraq. King Abdullah stressed the need to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, noting the Jordanian efforts to support the security and stability of Iraq.
