Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Interior Minister Hussein Majali II met with a delegation from the British House of Commons Monday that comprised members of The Council for Arab-British Understanding (CAABU), and the All Party-Parliamentary Jordan group led by MP Crispin Blunt.
The meeting, which was also attended by British Ambassador to Jordan Peter Millett, dealt with the latest developments in the region, ways to boost cooperation in various fields as well as tackle crimes and extremist ideologies.
Majali said Jordan is making tremendous efforts to preserve its security and that of the region, protect its borders with neighboring countries to fight all forms of crimes and terrorist organizations, and deal with the influx of Syrian refugees into the Kingdom.
He highlighted the need for regional and international efforts to solve the Syrian crisis in a manner that would preserve the country's security and territorial integrity as the continuation of the crisis would lead to more violence and terrorism.
Members of the delegation praised Jordan's efforts to bring about security and stability in the Middle East as well as the stance of its leadership to address various challenges.
CAABU is a London-based advocacy group that works with the government, parliament and media to further the United Kingdom's positive engagement with the Arab world. Founded in 1967, CAABU is the oldest and largest cross-party organization of its kind, with over 100 parliamentary members.
