Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A Jordanian parliamentary delegation is taking part in the International Parliamentary Conference on Growth for Development, which kicked off in London on Tuesday.
The delegation includes MPs Mowaffaq Dmour and Naim Al- Ajarma, where Dmour spoke about the upheavals in the Middle East and their repercussions on the Kingdom's resources, noting that Jordan is one of the world's poorest country in water.
Al- Ajarma reviewed the obstacles facing the economic growth in the region, noting that many of the issues related to security, water and food, desertification and biodiversity, stressing the need to improve production efficiency and enhance the role of women in society.
She also confirmed the need to implement integrated policies to reduce poverty as well as encouraging investment.
The forum brought together parliamentarians, experts and academics and focuses on the crucial role that institutions and legislators have to play in shaping and monitoring economic policies.
The conference is an unrivalled opportunity for learning, exchanging ideas and building capacity to engage on the economic agenda and the opportunities that exist to deliver sustainable equitable development through economic growth.
