18-10-2014 09:13 PM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Southern Shouna hospital Director, Fayez Kharabsheh, has denied reports published in certain media outlets and on websites regarding a woman dying due to poisoning in a Dead Sea resort.

Rumors followed two days after a child and his mother died due to food poisoning soon after they had a meal in the Holiday Inn/Dead Sea. The hospital did not receive any other complaint from Dead Sea visitors about food poisoning, Kharabsheh told Petra.

He pointed out that the woman who was admitted to the emergency ambulance ward at the hospital late Thursday night had complained of abdominal pain. She was administered first aid while clinical and laboratory examinations showed that she was suffering from infection in the intestines and not poisoning.

The woman left the hospital and was in a good state of health, it was pointed out. The Health Ministry followed up on the patient's condition and was reassured about her health. Also, she had not complained of any disease symptoms, Kharabsheh added.

Kharabsheh explained that intestinal infections and food poisoning had certainly similarities, and many of the cases are caused by bacterial or viral intestinal infections, especially during the summer season.

He also stressed that the hospital does not allow any cases where patients shows symptoms of poisoning to leave the hospital without taking all necessary medical and administrative measures.
