King: The reaction to ISIS has got to be quick

23-09-2014 10:27 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II said that the reaction to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has got to be quick, expressing his satisfaction that President Obama has been thinking this through in a very sensible manner.

In the second part of a television interview with presenter of "60 minutes" program, Scott Pelley, broadcast on CBS on Monday, the King said that the problem with ISIS is that they are cross-bordered, being in Syria and Iraq, which made it a bit difficult to solve the Iraq part of the puzzle and then going into eastern Syria.

The King added that nobody is expecting "foreign boots on the ground", which is why in Iraq, it is the Iraqis that could push back against extremism with assistance from a coalition and in Syria it is the Syrian moderate opposition.

"As we deal with Syria and Iraq, let's not forget Libya, let's not forget Yemen, let's not forget the Horn of Africa, Nigeria. This is truly a global fight against terror," the King said.
