Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, on Wednesday discussed with UN Under-Secretary and Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos, cooperation between Jordan and the organization, especially in issues regarding Syrian refugees.
The minister discussed with Amos the repercussions and humanitarian implications of the Syrian crisis on Jordan, which hosts more than 600,000 Syrian refugees and provides them with services despite difficult economic conditions.
Judeh stressed Jordan's keenness to continue cooperation with UN organizations working in the humanitarian field and maintain constant coordination with them.
The two sides tackled diplomatic efforts made by Jordan in coordination with member states of the UN Security Council to issue the recent resolution on humanitarian aid.
The UN official stressed the importance of Jordan's role in hosting Syrian refugees and providing them with services and protection. She called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in helping Jordan, which bears massive burdens as a result of hosting large numbers of refugees on its territory.
