Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Foreign Minister, Nasser Judeh, on Tuesday discussed with a delegation of US Congressional aides Jordanian-US relations and developments in the Middle East.
The Minister spoke about the aftermath of Israel's war on the Gaza Strip, noting that Jordan had welcomed a ceasefire that ended the seven-week war.
He stressed the need to speed up the entry of humanitarian relief aide and reconstruction materials into Gaza, pledging that Jordan would provide all possible help for that purpose.
The minister pointed to Jordan's diplomacy, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, and contacts it had undertaken with all the parties to bring the Israeli aggression on Gaza to an end and back efforts towards that end. Judeh also briefed the congressional aides on Jordan's reforms, the latest of which were constitutional amendments passed recently by the Lower House that would bolster democracy as a "lifestyle in the country".
Despite scarce resources and the surrounding regional circumstances, Jordan is forging ahead with political reforms and boosting freedoms and democracy, Judeh added.
The meeting also tackled the situation in Syria and the need to reach a political settlement that guarantees the country's security and territorial integrity with the participation of all segments of Syrian people.
On Iraq, the minister said Jordan backed endeavours to cement the unity of all the country's people.
