King meets with sectoral committees drafting Jordan's 10-year economic vision

26-08-2014 10:05 PM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Tuesday, met at Husseiniyeh Palace with chairs of sectoral committees assigned to draft an economic vision for Jordan for the next 10 years.

He said the coordination as well as the sectoral committees working on a vision and an accompanying executive plan have his full support as they strive to pro-actively deal with challenges facing Jordan.

A ten year forecast for the economy is the foremost strategic plan for the future of Jordan and Jordanians, His Majesty noted in the meeting.

The ten year economic vision, which the King has called for earlier this year, is being prepared in a joint partnership between the public and private sectors as well as the civil society.

Attending the meeting were the prime minister, the minister of planning as well as royal court officials.

King Abdullah said such a step will surely contribute to advancing a resilient economy in Jordan and will reflect positively on the living standard of all Jordanians.

His Majesty affirmed the kingdom has neither political nor security issues, but only economic and developmental challenges, that are on the forefront of national priorities.

Sixteen committees are collaborating on the ten year economic vision, representing public sector institutions, private sector entrepreneurs and leaders of civil society organizations.

The committees are preparing a report on actions needed to enhance fiscal stability, increase productivity, upgrade the industrial sector and Jordanian exports, curb the trade and budget deficit, and improve the financial and banking sector environment.
