Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh on Friday discussed the latest developments in Gaza with his British counterpart Philip Hammond.

In a telephone conversation, Judeh briefed the British officials on the efforts being exerted by Jordan at the UN Security Council to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and bolster the current truce. He also spoke about the contacts of His Majesty King Abdullah with Arab and world leaders on this regard.

He also affirmed that the only solution that would prevent the recurrence of such aggressions is sitting down to the negotiation table to embark on direct peace talks. Such talks, he added, should lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Hammond, meanwhile, voiced support for the Jordanian efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza as well as a peace agreement that would restore security and stability in the region.
