Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan has strongly condemned the barbaric Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip and the unjustified and excessive use of force against civilian Palestinians in the enclave.
Jordan's Deputy U.N. Ambassador Mahmoud Hmoud told the UN Security Council that the least the Council could provide to the people of Gaza would be to uphold its responsibilities and work towards a cessation of the Israeli’s aggression.
He added that the "carnage" by the Israel occupation forces and the unjustified, excessive force in no measure had to do with self-defence, but a deliberate targeting of civilians and collective punishment by Israel against the Palestinian people.
Hmoud also affirmed that the military force could not bring peace and security to the region.
The official urged the international community to work rapidly to provide humanitarian aid. Jordan, he said, had sent staff to hospitals and medical aid to Gaza and was receiving the wounded.
Further, Hmoud called for the international community to swiftly respond to appeals to support agencies, particularly UNRWA, and voiced support for the Egyptian initiative for a ceasefire and for a political solution towards a two-State solution.
