Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan, on Saturday, condemned as a serious precedent, Israel's denial of access to thousands of Muslim worshippers from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the first Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson, Mohammed al-Momani, told Petra that shutting the doors of the holy shrine before Muslim worshippers is a flagrant violation of the sanctity of the holy month and would inflame Muslims' passions. He pointed out that less than 10 percent of the expected number of worshippers were allowed access to the al-Aqsa mosque in the first Friday of Ramadan because of the blockade Israeli forces threw around the entrances of the holy city.

The minister warned the Israeli occupation authorities of continuing to provide protection for violations by Jewish extremists against Jerusalem sanctities and against the Palestinian people.

He urged the international community, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League to take the necessary steps and measures needed to stop all Israeli violations in Jerusalem.
