Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Israeli police say they have beefed up security in and around Jerusalem as the funeral of a Palestinian teen coincides with Ramadan prayers.

Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the city was calm Friday after two days of protests over the death ahead of his funeral in the afternoon.

The body of 16-year-old Mohammad Abu Khdeir was found in a forest earlier this week after he was seized near his home in east Jerusalem.

Palestinians have accused Israeli extremists for the killing in a revenge attack for three Israeli teens who were recently abducted and killed in the West Bank.

Police said an investigation is ongoing to determine who killed the teen and why.

Violence on the Gaza border also subsided after weeks of Palestinian rocket attacks and Israeli airstrikes.
