PM calls for enhancing regulatory measures at Central Market for fruits and vegetables

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour stressed the importance of enhancing regulatory and monitoring measures at the Central Market for fruits and vegetables.

During a visit to the market on Thursday, accompanied by State Minister for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani, Ensour said any regulatory measures for the Central Market should take into consideration the interest of farmers and consumers in the first place.

He stressed the importance of preserving the good reputation that Jordanian products enjoy in local and foreign markets and called for activating the role of commercial attachés at Jordanian embassies abroad to deal with the problems that marketing Jordanian products encounter.

The prime minister called for addressing the illogical gap between prices of agricultural products for the consumer and the prices of these items in the Central Market.

He also called for a meeting soon of all concerned bodies to discuss issues related to the market and regulate its work.

Mayor of Amman Akil Beltaji reviewed mechanism of the market's work which receives 1 million tons of vegetables and fruits every year.
