Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to the Middle East and Europe for talks on the Iraqi crisis, the State Department said on Friday.

Kerry will consult with U.S. partners and allies on measures to support security, stability, and the formation of an inclusive government in Iraq, said Jen Psaki, State Department spokeswoman.

Kerry will hold consultations in Jordanian capital Amman with Jordan's Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh before heading to Brussels, the capital of Belgium, to participate in a NATO foreign ministers meeting, Psaki said.

In Paris, Kerry will meet with key regional partners and Gulf allies on Middle East security challenges, including Iraq and Syria, she added.

At a press conference on Thursday, U.S. President Barack Obama said the U.S. would lead a diplomatic effort to work with Iraqi leaders and the countries in the region to support stability in Iraq.

"All of Iraq's neighbors have a vital interest in ensuring that Iraq does not descend into civil war or become a safe haven for terrorists," Obama said.
