Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Criminal police from the Public Security Department (PSD) arrested a man who confessed to killing his son and daughter in Amman over a family dispute, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the department's media centre.

It said that police, accompanied by the prosecutor general and a forensic expert, moved into a house after the Central Amman Police Directorate’s main operations room was tipped off about a man's body being found inside. It said the corpse bore stab wounds to the neck that resulted in the death.

The statement said that the investigation also revealed that the victim's sister had died under mysterious circumstances several days ago after consuming "a poisoned substance".

It said police expanded the investigation after determining a link between the two murders, having pieced together clues from the crime scene, which led to the arrest of the father who confessed to poisoning the daughter and also killing the son by stabbing him several times with a sharp-edged object. The father cited a family dispute as the reason for the killings.

The PSD statement said the case was being investigated by the criminal court's prosecutor general.
