Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Israel’s president and prime minister have both congratulated Egyptian president-elect Abdel Fattah al-Sisi who vowed on his recent election and voiced readiness to work closely with Cairo in different areas, the Egyptian leader’s Facebook page said late Friday.
According to the page, al-Sisi received Friday morning phone calls from both Israeli President Shemon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who both congratulated the former army commander on his landslide victory and stressed that the polls had been “free and fair.”
The senior Israeli officials also stressed that Israel was willing to work closely with Egypt at “the political and security levels.”
Peres and Netanyahu also expressed their conviction that Egypt’s newly elected president would help lead Egypt and the Egyptians to prosperity in the future stage.
According to the page, al-Sisi expressed his appreciation to the two officials and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to all its international treaties, especially the peace treaty with Israel.
He also the upcoming stage represented a real opportunity to find the right environment to resolve the Middle East conflict and promote peace in the region.
Al-Sisi was announced the winner of Egypt’s election earlier this week. His inauguration as president will be held Sunday.
