King meets dignitaries, retired servicemen and local leaders from Karak

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II stressed the spirit of collective work to confront challenges posed to the country and build a better future for its people.

King Abdullah also told dignitaries, retired servicemen and local leaders in the southern city of Karak that nation-building required a high sense of patriotism and awareness of the current critical circumstances.

During the meeting, held at the house of retired Brigadier General Salamah Habashneh, the King said implementing decentralization nationwide and building necessary capacities at the local level is needed to enhance deregulation and help achieve comprehensive development, particularly in rural and remote regions.

He also urged the government to keep channels open with the citizens and bring them into the decision-making process, upgrade public services and set priority projects for development of the various governorates.

His Majesty stressed the need to spur growth to empower the country to address challenges, foremost of which is the burden of hosting Syrian refugees, which had a heavy cost in terms of services, infrastructure.

Noting a ten-year economic blueprint being drawn up by the government in a partnership with all public and private stakeholders, the King called for expediting alternative energy projects, particularly in the south.
