Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - By R.B. Sinclair - Thousands of people lined up at 9100 polling centers to vote for the next President of Syria. Opposition groups declared that anyone who ventures out to vote will be a targeted. On May 23rd, the Free Syria Army bombed an election tent in Daraa killing 25 people. On election day, a number of shelling incidents were recorded, but no reports of casualties. International observers from Brazil, Russia and other nations were present at voting centers and Syrians who wished to vote were bussed to polling centers. Voter turnout was close to predictions.
There is little doubt that Bashar Al-Assad will be declared the winner. Overwhelmingly, citizens voting in Syria or outside their country, continue to express support for the current President. They believe Bashar Al-Assad is the only one who can hold their country together, and is able to defeat the extremist rebels financed by the West, Israel and area kingdoms or Emirates. "The audacity of these potbellied sheiks, merchants of death, to lecture us about our Election. Their type of Islam is abusing children and enslaving women and imported workers. They jail or execute their own people who suggest basic democratic reforms." A Syrian living in Jordan criticized.
The United States and other anti-Assad governments called Syria’s Presidential election a fraud.
