King meets civil society representatives in U.S western coast

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II continued his meetings in the United States of America, as he met yesterday in Los Angeles, California, with the most prominent representatives of civil society organizations in the U.S. west coast.

During the meeting, which dealt with the latest regional and global developments, His Majesty stressed Jordan's keenness to work and collaborate with international actors to address the issues of the Middle East in order to bring security and stability to the region.

The King reasserted Jordan's position regarding the Syrian crisis, warning from the continued blockage of a political solution and its risk on the security, stability and peace of the Middle East.

The Monarch also warned from the repercussions of the Syrian situation on the neighboring countries, highlighting the burdens borne by the Kingdom due to hosting 1.3 million Syrian refugees which increased pressure on its infrastructure and services.

The King called on the international community to increase its assistance to Jordan to help it continue with its humanitarian mission.

In this regard, the King noted that Jordan's health and education services are put under great pressures, which forced the Ministry of Education to raise the number of schools operating the two-shift system to accommodate with the Syrian students in Jordanian schools.

"The number of Syrian students in the Jordanian public schools amounted to 120.000 students while thousands of them are still on the waiting list," the King added, stressing that Jordan is dealing with the Syrian crisis as possible and with efficiency despite its difficult circumstances.
