"Lifeline" to Gaza

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Mohammed Saleh – A delegation of a Jordanian committee are heading to participate in the international convoy that will leave for Gaza on the third of next month to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip after the damage suffered as a result of heavy rains during the prevailing weather , which swept region.

The delegation includes a of about 30 persons and a popularity party which will join the international convoy next month, which includes Arabs and foreigners, a campaign to fulfill the European goal, supporters , and Algerian and Libyan relief committees, as well as Moroccan and Bahraini and Malaysian groups .

The Arab and Islamic relief bodies and committees, may appeal to the Egyptian government to open the Rafah crossing and to contribute to the relief in distress in the sector and to allow humanitarian assistance needed by the sector, furthermore the bodies and committees will appeal to Egyptian relief committees and competent authorities to contribute to the relief efforts.

The Palestinian government in the Gaza Strip reports that the size of the losses suffered by the sector as a result of rain is at about 64 million dollars.

The report estimated the requirements necessary to meet the depressions potential is more than 22 million dollars.

The rains left two deaths and 108 injuries , including five seriously injured , and the resort of 902 beds , representing 4316 people sent to shelters .

The report estimated the number of houses that have been flooded with more than 3,300 housing units in addition to about a thousand housing units were damaged due to sporadic structural damage.

The estimated direct losses of the agricultural sector is about 7 million dollars as a result of damage to farms and the deaths of thousands of chickens and damage to livestock, fish and vegetable production.

The estimated loss of the transportation sector by about two million dollars was sinking more than 200 vehicles, and damaged the fishermen port.
