Ammon News - jordan times - AMMAN — The consumer price index (CPI) rose by 6.1 per cent at the end of October this year compared with 4.27 per cent during the same period last year, according to the Department of Statistics (DoS) monthly report on inflation. The computed rise of the CPI, which measures inflation, is the result of an increase in the prices of several principal commodities coupled with a in some others. Transport, fuel, lighting, rents, vegetables, meat and chicken were among the commodities which recorded an increase in their prices while tobacco, cigarettes, medical care, cereals, oils and fats were the main commodities which recorded a in their prices, the DoS bulletin indicated. In October 2013, the CPI recorded an increase by around 5.8 per cent compared with the figure recorded at the end of same month last year, according to the DoS bulletin.
