King meets head of Russian delegation to joint committee meeting

Ammon News - (Petra)--His Majesty King Abdullah II met on Wednesday with Head of the Russian delegation to the Joint Jordanian-Russian Governmental Committee and Agriculture Minister Nikolai Fyodorov, who is currently visiting the Kingdom to take part in meetings of the committee.

The Russian official conveyed to the King the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his keenness to boost Jordanian-Russian ties and maintain coordination and consultations on regional issues of concern to both countries.

The King reviewed Jordanian-Russian ties, as well as aspects of further boosting relations in the economic, agricultural, tourism, transport, energy and peaceful uses of nuclear energy fields.

He also stressed his keenness to enhance relations with Russia through exchanges of expertise and setting up partnerships that reflect positively on strategic cooperation.

His Majesty was briefed by the head of Jordan's delegation to the committee, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ibrahim Saif, and the head of the Russian delegation about topics being discussed by the committee.

He also called for building on the outcome of the joint committee meetings and for promoting trade and investment between the private sectors in both countries.

King Abdullah said that Jordan's attractive investment climate was an outcome of a comprehensive and continued reform process that led to openness to world economies and major markets.

The Russian minister stressed his country's keenness to forge closer ties with Jordan and continue coordination on various issues of common interest.

He also affirmed Russia's readiness to support the Kingdom, mainly in the fields of energy, transport, agriculture, tourism, and capacity building.

During the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Jordan last year, the two countries signed an agreement to establish a joint committee to boost cooperation in various fields.
