Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - For the first time of it's history, Jordan Press Foundation (JPF) decided on Wednesday to boycott and prevent it's journalists from covering and publishing the news about Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and his cabinet.
The escalation came after the negative responses from the government, which controls the JPF’s board of directors through the Social Security Corporation (SSC), the owner of the majority of foundation’s shares.
JPF, is the largest newspaper, Issuing Al Rai newspaper in Arabic, Jordan Times in English and Hatem Magazine for children; conducting researches and providing local society services through Al Rai Research and Study Center; undertaking publication, distribution and printing operations.
Boycotting decision came as a result of a meeting gathered the foundation editorial team and a number of striker journalists on last Tuesday.
JPF employees staged a daily work stoppage since the beginning of October, and threatened to go on an open-ended strike starting next Monday if their demands are not met which include administrative and wages benefits demands.
