Ammon News - JT - Some 400 Syrians crossed into Jordan early on Monday, according to the Jordan Armed Forces.
The vast majority of the new arrivals had fled conflict-hit northern cities in Syria such as Homs and Hama via eastern desert routes close to the Iraqi border in order to bypass the under-siege southern border region, relief officials said.
An estimated 50,000 displaced Syrians have been prevented from crossing into Jordan due to continuous aerial raids led by Syrian regime forces.
Many of the would-be-refugees are stranded in under-siege towns and villages along the Jordanian-Syrian border, according to Syrian activists and rebels.
The rebel Free Syrian Army claims that over 130 refugees have been killed in Damascus’ eight-week aerial offensive across southern Syria.
