Islamists call on King to release activists

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood sent a letter to King Abdullah II calling for his intervention to release pro-reform activists, who have been detained on charges of insulting the king.

The Secretary General of the Islamic Action Front (IAF), the Brotherhood's political arm, Hamzah Mansour sent a letter to the king on occasion of Eid Al Adha, wishing Jordanians and His Majesty continued good health and happiness, and asking the king to order authorities to release the detainees.

It is noted that ten pro-reform activists have been kept in detention for over six weeks over charges of Lese Majeste and are being tried by the State Security Court (SSC),Jordan's military tribunal.
