Senate Expected to be Restructured Oct 25

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II is expected to issue a Royal Decree in October 25, to restructure the Jordanian Senate, the upper house of parliament, under the Presidency of current Senate President Taher Al Masri.

75 senators are expected to be appointed to the new Senate Council, accordance with Article 63 of the Jordanian Constitution, which stipulates that the number of Senate members should not exceed half the number of members of the Lower House of Parliament, the Council of Representatives.

This raises the number of Senators from 60 to 75, following the increase in number of representatives from 120 to 150.

A number of prominent senators will not be in the new council, informed sources told Ammon News.
