Amman International Marathon kicks off Friday, road closures announced

Ammon News - AMMAN The Amman International Marathon (AIM) kicked off on Friday with the participation of runners and fans from Jordan and other countries.

The event, which is organized by Run Jordan and sponsored by Samsung, includes two races: the 42km race and the 10km race. The finishing line and award ceremony for the races will be next to the Roman Amphitheatre downtown Amman.

The Marathon aims to promote the sport of running for fans and athletes alike. It also aims to raise funds for charities inside the Kingdom.

The Central Traffic Department on Thursday announced road closures and detours to go into effect Friday morning coinciding with the Amman International Marathon.

The Public Security Department’s (PSD) media office said Queen Alia Street and Istiklal Street will be closed to traffic, as well as the main roads leading to the Abdoun neighbourhood and the 3rd and 4th circles.

Traffic patrols will be deployed to direct motorists to alternative routes, PSD said. (Petra)
