99 Rape cases reported in Jordan in first half of 2013

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Anas Ali- The High Criminal Court dealt with 99 cases of rape and 441 attempted rape cases in Jordan this year, until June 2013, according to the head of the court Judge Fawzi Al Nahar.
441 sexual assault cases were filed until June of this year, while 826 cases of sexual assault were recorded during 2012, he added.
About abuse cases, Judge Al Nahar said that they registered 540 cases, while 1051 cases were registered last year.
Three cases of "Rape-Marriage" were recorded in 2013. Rape-Marriages refer to cases in which the rapists marry their victims, and according to Article 308 of the Jordanian Penal Code, it allows convicted rapists to walk free if they marry their victims.
