King voices confidence in future, ability to continue development march

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) – His Majesty King Abdullah II voiced his confidence in Jordan’s future and the country’s ability to continue the march of development and modernization.

During a visit to the Prime Ministry , where he met Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and chaired part of the Cabinet meeting, the King directed the government to draw up a time-bound executive action plan to stimulate the economy and attract investments into the Kingdom.

He also stressed the need to expedite the implementation of mega strategic projects related to enhancing water and energy security.

"I am aware of the difficult economic conditions facing the citizens and there is need for ministers to go to the field to address the problems that the citizens face," the King added.

His Majesty thanked the government for its efforts to ensure the success of the recent municipal elections despite some challenges that emerged.

He also instructed the government to support the municipal councils to enable them to provide quality services to citizens and contribute towards enhancing development.

King Abdullah stressed the need to expedite certain amendments to the legislation that have been affected by the constitutional amendments to ensure that they conform with the constitution, affirming at the same time the importance of activating the principle of the rule of law to achieve justice and equality among all.

Regarding the situation in Syria, the King said that there is no need for any fear or concern, noting that Jordan supports a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis and is capable of protecting its security and interests.

During the meeting, His Majesty listened to a briefing by the prime minister about the accomplishments over the past period and the government's future plans for the economy and development.
