Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) Jordan national football team on Tuesday secured a historic win over Uzbekistan in the second leg of a World Cup play-off, making a big step towards the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Jordan will now face the fifth-placed South American team for a place in Brazil. The Uzbeks took an early lead in the clash with a goal in the 5th minute but Jordan's Sa'id Murjan sent a stunning 25-yard half-volley into the Uzbeks' net in the 44th minute and restored parity.
Jordan forced the hosts into a shootout penalty after holding them to 120-minute 1-1 draw. The national team scored 9 successful penalties against 8 to the Uzbeks.
