Planning minister hails British support to Syrian refugees

Ammon News - Ammonnews- Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ibrahim Saif met on Tuesday with British Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening to discuss ways to forge closer economic ties between the two countries.

The minister valued the aid provided by Britain, at 140 million Sterling Pounds ($220 million), to Syrian refugees in the region and pointed to the economic challenges and humanitarian and financial repercussions that Jordan is shouldering due to the current situation in the region and the fact that the Kingdom is hosting a large number of Syrian refugees.

He also spoke about pressure placed by the refugees on Jordan's educational, health and water fields, especially in the northern region.
The British minister voiced his country’s readiness to continue to support Jordan, mainly with regard to Syrian refugees being hosted by the Kingdom.
