Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The ministers in the current government of Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Sunday submitted their resignation in preparation for a cabinet reshuffle expected to take place later this week.
The 18 ministers of the current government resigned as Ensour is reported to have finalized the formation of a new cabinet in the first reshuffle in his second term in office, Ammon News learned.
Ensour and his current "slim" government were sworn in on March 30th, a cabinet that shrunk from an average of 25-30 ministers to a mere 18-minister cabinet after several ministers were delegated with more than one ministerial portfolio.
Informed sources anticipate that the new government formation will be announced on Wednesday, and the new cabinet will be sworn-in before King Abdullah II on the same day.
King Abdullah II on Sunday met with heads of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches in a meeting of the Royal Committee to Enhance Integrity.
The reshuffle, slated to take place this upcoming week, is expected to add 10 new ministers to the cabinet, and the departure of 3-4 ministers.
Informed sources noted that although government measures slated to carry out the reshuffle after the municipal elections (August 27), Ensour nonetheless is expected to reshuffle his cabinet prior to the elections, as he has "concluded preparations of the formation of the new cabinet," according to the sources.
