Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Two missile shells reportedly fired from inside the Syrian territories fell on the Jordanian border town of al-Turra Thursday evening.

The two shells fell near a school in al-Turra, in the northern Jordanian border with Syria, late on Thursday, landing without causing any injuries or casualties, according to Jordanian authorities.


Eye-witnesses in the town said that shells fall occasionally inside Jordanian towns during clashes between the Syrian army and opposition forces in the border regions, Al Ghad daily reported.

Residents report that they frequently hear the sounds of shelling on the border, which often cause nearby homes to shake and its glass to break.

Civil Defense cadres and military engineering personnel worked to dismantle the shells and dispose of them.

Jordanian military sources confirmed that missile shells fell inside Jordanian territories, citing that no casualties were reported.

The sources stressed that conditions in the border region with Syria, which stretches over 375 kilometers, are under control, noting that the incident was not "intentional."

The Jordanian armed forces deals with Free Syrian Army units deployed across the border region on a humanitarian bases, particularly in coordinating the crossing of refugees into Jordan or transporting the injured.


Errant missile shells launched by the Syrian Army have landed inside Jordanian territories several times in the past year, landing in the town of Turra near the Jordanian northern border city of Ramtha. 



Several missiles had landed previously in Turra, about 90 kilometers northwest of Amman, as a result of clashes in the Syrian border town of Daraa between the Syrian regime army and the Free Syrian Army.



In September, five rocket shells struck near inhabited areas in Ramtha, and about 9 more shells hit areas nearby the borders. One child was injured in the incident that caused major havoc and fear among border-area residents.
