Ammon News - AMMAN (Jordan Times) — The coalition of leftist and pan-Arab parties said it will participate in the August 27 municipal elections, according to a statement e-mailed to The Jordan Times on Wednesday.

The decision was taken during a meeting held by the coalition’s representatives at the headquarters of the Jordanian People’s Democratic Party (Hashed).

Participants also agreed to hold a sit-in opposite the Lower House, directly after Eid Al Fitr, in protest against the planned increase in electricity prices.

They also called for releasing all detainees who were apprehended for participating in protests, warning of the dangers of deepening internal divisions.
