Ammon News - KUWAIT (Jordan Times)— His Majesty King Abdullah and the emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, held talks on Wednesday which focused on means to boost cooperation between the two countries, the latest regional developments and issues of mutual concern.

During the talks, held at Dasman Palace in Kuwait City, the two leaders stressed their commitment to exerting all efforts to strengthen the political and economic relations between the two countries, according to a Royal Court statement.

The two leaders noted that the strong relations between both countries represent a distinguished model of joint Arab action that boosts pan-Arab cooperation.

King Abdullah expressed Jordan’s appreciation of Kuwait’s support for the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to achieve sustainable and comprehensive development, the statement added.

With regard to regional issues, the Monarch and the emir reviewed the recent developments in the Middle East peace process, stressing that a peace settlement should be achieved on the basis of the two-state solution and in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil.

Talks also addressed the repercussions of the now 26-month-old Syrian crisis, with King Abdullah stressing the need to arrive at a comprehensive political solution that safeguards Syria’s territorial integrity and ends the suffering of the Syrian people.

During Wednesday’s talks, the King, who returned home later in the day, and the emir reasserted their commitment to pursuing coordination between Jordan and Kuwait in a manner that serves regional security and boosts solidarity and joint Arab action.

The talks were attended by several officials from the two countries.
